Posted September 07, 2018 09:56:50 When you get home from work, your body is going through the motions and the food is delivered to your doorstep.
But that isn’t the case for food delivery service food truck drivers, who are often in the position of having to manage their own household chores.
“If you have a kid, they will get to feed them and have time to eat,” said Food Truck Driver and co-owner David Pritchard.
“The food that you buy for them is going to be there when they get home, but it’s not going to make them feel any better.”
Mr Pritchett said he was faced with having to make tough decisions on the food he delivered to customers and had to deal with customer complaints.
“It’s always stressful because you are always going to have a customer that is not happy with you because they think you are stealing their money,” he said.
“There are always things you have to be mindful of, like if they are coming to your house and there is no food available, it could be the end of the line.”
And then there is the delivery guy who has to be on top of the day to make sure it is delivered in a timely fashion.
“I have to make decisions that I can’t really do when it comes to the food.”
Food truck drivers like Mr Pritchard face the challenges of managing a small business in a busy city, and they often face the same challenges in managing the delivery person.
“People will always ask you to be the bread and butter of their lives, so you have got to take a lot of pride in that,” he explained.
“But sometimes the people that are in charge of the food are not the ones that you think they are, so I guess that is part of the job.”
Mr Sousa said the food truck industry had an impact on his business and he was proud of the work that it had done.
“You see what happens with the weather and the road conditions and things like that, you can’t expect that from a normal person working in a supermarket,” he added.
“When you start working for food trucks you can actually change the course of things, you see what they do.”
Food Truck Driver David Pietchard said his job had a positive impact on people’s lives.
He said while his customers were often the ones who were going through difficult times, they were often able to talk about the positive aspects of the jobs.
“Our customers are usually happy about what we do, and that makes it a lot easier,” he joked.
“We are really just here to help people who are struggling, to make a little extra money, to help them feel better.”
